Both Elephant Airsoft is another in the many companies that creates replicas of real steel guns that can be used by airsoft players the world over to simulate battles and, even in some cases, entire wars. I’d be remiss if I started this review without mentioning that they have the weirdest, and perhaps most clever company name I’ve ever heard of.
Their guns sell in the low and mid-range price ranges and this seems like a good fit to me. Quality is not top notch but it pretty good nonetheless. I’ve read reviews that compare this company to the Well airsoft company. They are both stated as having ok quality but with some faults. This is generally the fault of the quality assurance personnel that are supposed to be checking these things before they come out the door.
I’ve heard better reliability reviews about the airsoft guns with metal gearboxes and I’m not surprised. Metal is naturally stronger than plastic and it’s tough on these gearboxes when they are used for fast semi or full-auto fire. Some cases of failure to feed bb’s have come up but I personally that most failure to fee problems, in airsoft and real steel guns, is the magazines fault and I see no real reason to believe that this is any different in the Both Elephant products than it is in most of the others.
One review I read did state that the performance trailed off to the point of useless in a period of 3 years. I personally believe that this is because of the plastic gearbox taking so much wear and tear. You can only expect so much from plastic and it clearly gets to a point when it just can’t give anymore. This problem could be fixed by spending just a bit more and getting the guns that come with the metal gearboxes but that is between you and your wallet and budget to decide.
I think if I had to recommend between Well and Both Elephants I would still go with Well for the accuracy but I am also biased because Well was my first hands on review and I had a particularly nice day shooting it. If BE and Well can continue making economical airsoft guns at a good quality like they are making now then this should be a very interesting arms race to keep a very expectant eye on.
