The Model 1911 is THE pistol of pistols. No other pistol is so instantly recognized and associated with than this pistol and there are some truly excellent examples of this fine firearm design in the airsoft world. Classic Army is one company that comes to mind in this genre because they make an excellent GBB 1911 that looks just amazing.
KWA USA also makes a stellar example of a 1911 pistol and they both have a lot in common including all steel design and a GBB system that works off of green gas. This is the system that professionals use to train with when their actions in training can mean life or death when they hit the streets at home or for some of the bravest men to live, in countries some Americans still can’t point out on a map.
The old saying goes that if it’s good enough for them than its good enough for me and I truly believe this to be true. The two companies that I’ve mentioned here are one of a handful that make truly breathtaking replicas and I’d be proud to carry any of them into a match with the utmost confidence in my sidearm. In my M9 article I wrote that I was biased to that gun because I carried it overseas, but I can honestly say that I would take a good airsoft 1911 over the M9 any day of any week of any year. That sentence might be pretty implicit but it still doesn’t scratch the surface of my love for these airsoft, and the real steel counterpart, guns.
They were the original gold standard for the United States military all the way from 1911 to 1985. If that track record doesn’t tell you anything then you might have misread my words. Go back and try again. It’s uncanny for such an old design to still be so up to date and yet the 1911 is and it is still great enough to be reproduced by some of the top airsoft pistol makers in the world. What I’ve tried to convey in this article is that if you ever get to choose one airsoft pistol and you have the money to spend, please do yourself a favor and spring for a good AEG or GBB 1911. I give you my word you will not regret it and if you do you’re one strange fellow and please never contact me.
