AK-47 airsoft guns are some of the most instantly and easily recognized in the world. This is due in large part to the fact that the gun they copy is the most used weapon in almost every war in recent memory. They are made by so many airsoft companies that I can’t even keep track and range in quality from unusable, something you rarely hear about a real AK-47, to very high grade.
The prices are usually adjusted accordingly and you can expect to pay anywhere from twenty and thirty dollars all the way up into the hundreds. They come in plastic and metal, and also in spring, AEG, and gas actions. I don’t think that spring makes sense at all since we are supposed to be firing a machine gun here but there is always someone making something that doesn’t make sense so I’m not really surprised.
What did surprise me was the realism of some of the high end models, which replicate everything perfectly all the way down to magazine size. This isn’t important to everyone, but to the most hardcore players around it can be very important indeed. I personally would like to get ahold of an AEG AK-47 airsoft assault rifle to review and play with for a while. Some of the big name manufacturers of AK-47 airsoft rifles are Jing Gong, D-Boy, and Classic Army.
I’ve seen a lot of matches where the weapon of choice seems to consistently be the AK-47 and this says something about the endearing nature history has had on this design. It has been the gun that has seen the rise and fall of leaders both elected and not, and this has attached a value on it that carries over into the world of airsoft battles and matches. Although I am sure that none of these rifles will ever see as much use as their real steel counterparts, I’m equally sure that they will remain a staple in the airsoft realm for years, if not decades, to come.
I look forward to seeing the growth and evolution of the AK-47 airsoft market and hopefully as more and more of them come to be made then the prices for the higher quality samples will fall to a more obtainable level. I’d say today is the golden age of airsoft and we are seeing newer and better guns all the time that push the lever ever forward.
